Purchasing a lotto subscription as a gift
I want to purchase a lotto subscription for my Dad who lives on LI but I live out of state. The directions are REALLY confusing. Would anyone be able to explain the process to me more simply? When I register should I register with his name or with my name? I am so confused!!!

Re: Purchasing a lotto subscription as a gift
I'm not sure about how to buy for someone else on the site although I know it says it can be done.. It may be easier for you to print the subscription form to wrap up & give as the gift along with a check for the amount you wanted to spend. That's what the person that gave it to me did, and it was actually good that way because my social security # was needed on the form & I got to pick my own numbers to play on the form. They gave me a check already made payable to NY lottery for me to send with the form.
Here are the forms for both Lotto & Mega Millions subscriptions. https://www.mynylottery.org/portal/dowloadSubsForm.do

It says on the facts that if you are purchasing it as a gift you do not need to provide the social security number of the person you are giving the gift to if you don't know it. (from the lotto site) "It is not necessary to provide the gift recipient's social security number if it is not available to the gift purchaser. The gift purchaser should not provide his or her own social security number on the application."
I thought that Father's Day was sooner...I think I will just print out the application and send in. Found out that even though you can purchase the subscription if you live out of state you need to be on a computer connected in NY to purchase which is the STUPIDEST thing I have ever heard.
