Someone I know had a baby and when I went to visit her in the hospital, she had a GORGEOUS diamond ring on that her DH bought her but SHE picked it out beforehand and told him that is what she wanted....Now, I think that is ridiculous!!!!
Why is that ridiculous? I don't see what's so bad about that?
If her DH has no problems with it, then who cares?

Re: "Push Present"
DH surprised me in the hospital with diamond stud earrings.... for the "sparkle" I "gave to his life". It was symbolic.... and the earrings are really quite special and sentimental to me. It made him happy to do it--- I did not want, nor did I need anything.

I really don't like the terminology "push present". It just sounds to me
I agree- I think it sounds a little tacky and maybe even TMI.
If/when we are lucky enough, I would like something with the baby's birthstone. But nothing crazy expensive; I like those "family" rings and pendants.

Re: "Push Present"
I never expected one but I got one for each of my 3 children! I love jewelry and do be quite honest with you my hubby alwasy buys pieces keeping our kids in mind. he likes to think that the piece of jewelry will be given to them on their wedding day or a day sentimental like that!

I agree. If someone is going to spend a lot of money on jewelry shouldn't they be sure it is what they want?
I pick out a lot of my own presents from dh, it makes me happy and him happy so he doesn't have to guess.
Anyway, dh brought me a baby girl charm in the hospital that I love (he picked it out)!

Re: "Push Present"
I think it's sweet to have a husband buy his wife a small gift to mark the special occasion, but #1 I cannot stand the term "push present" and #2 I would hate to expect or ask for anything #3 having my little girl happy and healthy was more than enough of a gift.

Re: "Push Present"
I got one with Andrew and one now with Sophia. I never heard of a push present before so I wasn't expecting a thing.
This what I got with Sophia. It has her name and birthdate on the back. With her Birthstone Aquamarine
This is Andrew's also Aquamarine.
