Putting a password on my wireless Connection
maybe not the right way to describe it but I connect to the internet wirelessly from my home office. This week my connection is moving really really slow and it so happens that my neighbours have been home all week...coincidence? I dont know but does anyone know how I can put a password on it so noone can connect using my connection?
TIA

Re: Putting a password on my wireless Connection
Or you can simply look at the manual that came with your wireless router. All the instructions as to how to add wireless security can be found there, usually in pretty easy to understand language.
You can also set the router to NOT broadcast this way others can't even see you have a wireless connection.

Re: Putting a password on my wireless Connection
The manual that came with mine had step by step instructions on how to go to a web page and set it all up. My both neighbors have wireless and we all have our networks password encrytped.

you have to install a firewall so no one can tap into your connection.

Re: Putting a password on my wireless Connection
The manual will tell you how to set up WEP encryption, as well as limiting access to certain laptops. My wireless connection at home will only allow my laptop on, even if someone hacked the password.
Most configurations are pretty easy to use, and they are all menu-based through a web page interface.
