putting doubles on registries? UPDATE: Anyone want to check my registries again?
I was having a major dilemma of where to register...I been to both BBB and BRU and there are pluses and minuses to each store. Of course the return policy at BBB is a million times better. So I ended up creating 2 registries and people have suggested to me to put a lot of the same stuff on both, then watch the registries and delete stuff as it is bought. Does that make sense? Do you think that will get too crazy? Will people get ****** off??
ETA: OK, I organized the registries again....I THINK there are less doubles, but I did keep some doubles of big things (ie: bedding, pack n play, breast pump, infant monitor). I also have 2 convertible carseats, however we will end up needing 2 anyway so if we get 2 it's not a prob. I also have sheets n sleepsacks on both registries. Any volunteers to look at my registries again and tell me if this is ok?
BRU: 44975248 BBB: 5448832

Re: Is it really bad that I am putting doubles on my registries?
hmmm...I also have a registry at both BBB and BRU. I did not do duplicates. Most of my stuff is a BBB not only b/c of the return policy but I found the prices were better. Anwyay, I purposely put some stuff on BRU just so it was easier for those people who are close to the store -even though I could hae put it on my BRU (I made sure the prices were comprable KWIM). I don't want to be constantly updating my registery ,that seems like it will be annoying IMO.

I think people might get frustrated at the shower if you're opening a lot of duplicates and it'll be hard to keep up with deleting stuff off of one. Even when you have one registry there are duplicates bought.
Every shower I've been to (baby and bridal) there's drama when there's duplicates - you get a bunch of women in a room and for some reason, they turn crazy, as though the other gift giver intentionally bought a duplicate or something! Then the friends/family of the original gift giver (or the one closest to the guest of honor) turn on the friends/family of the other gift giver. There's discussion over who bought the gift first and murmurs about the second purchaser and their character. You think I'm kidding - but I'm not .

That seems like a giant pain in the @ss. LOL you would have to check daily and people may go to on store thinking that they can get something and then you delete it before they get there. . .
I think its more trouble than its worth - I would keep two registries and put completely different items on both.

Re: Is it really bad that I am putting doubles on my registries?
I know...you are all right. It will be a huge pain.... I don't know why this registry thing is such a problem for me....I have added and deleted stuff from each registry like a million times b/c I am not sure where to have to majority of the items from.
any suggestions/advice would help. The only reason I even created the BRU registry was so that people who didnt have a BBB close by would be able to go there. And at that point, I felt like it made sense to put most things on the BRU registry

Re: Is it really bad that I am putting doubles on my registries?
You could do a little on each and then I'm sure you'll get gift cards so you can buy what you need from each store. Honestly though, there were a few things i preferred from BBB but I just settled for a similar thing from BRU because it wasn't a huge deal to me.
You could also doing something like this - say you get a $100 BRU gift card. You could use that for essentials like diapers, formula, wipes or save it for things you need later like a big kid car seat - things you would have had to take out of your regular monthly budget. Then take $100 of your own money and go buy something you wanted at BBB.

Re: Is it really bad that I am putting doubles on my registries?
I had a registry at both BRU and BBB. I only had a few doubles - all big ticket items that I really wanted. As things were purchased off both, I had a few more dupes to give people more options on each. I didn't have any major problems or very many duplicate gifts and in fact, the few I did get dupes of were not even items I put on both I think it's fine to do to some extent and monitor but I think it'd be hard to do with a lot of items - just pick a few and pick the stuff you really, really want to make sure you get.

I did duplicates on my registries. Do you plan on stalking? If so, I think it is a good idea, because you can remove the item off the other registry once it has been purchased.
ETA-You have 3 highchairs on BRU-one you cannot buy online-did you mean to have that many?

I noticed you put two high chairs on the BRU registry, did you do that on purpose?

Your registries look good-you will have to stalk them a lot so you don't get duplicates.
On BBB, two recommendations-
1. You don't need the Baby Jogger Car Seat Adaptor and the snap and go-they are the same thing. I would pick one. We have the adaptor and I set it up-it is very sturdy-but we will have to see with baby in it!
2. Do you have an activity gym?

You are right, I wont need both. I wasnt sure which one was better to get, everyone raves about the snap n go, and the basket at the bottom is so big. It is also lighter than the baby jogger so may be easier in the beginning. I did see the adapter in the store and it also seemed pretty good. I just figured if I had one of each then my chances of someone buying one of the 2 would be greater, then I could decide...is that silly?
Also, by an activity gym you mean a playmat with toys overhead type thing? I do have one that I actually bought from BBB it was on clearance for $20...regular $69...I couldnt pass up that deal so I just bought it myself.

I did 2 identical registires (for the most part) at both BBB and BRU. But, I am a HUGE registry stalker...so I'm not worried about duplicates.

Even if you stalk your registry, you could end up with a lot of duplicates. BRU doesn't update the registry immediately. Plus, I've bought gifts from there, asked that the gifts be marked as purchased and looked at the registry a few days later only to discover that they were never marked off. The other issue is some people won't give you a gift receipt. I don't think having the same registry at 2 places is worth the hassle.

I have the car seat adaptor for the city mini - we like it so far. We live in the city and our apartment is big for Manhattan for small for everywhere else so space comes at a premium - I definitely didn't want any extra "gear." One easily foldable stroller and a small adaptor takes up plenty of space, we really don't have room for another stroller-type object. If you don't have space constraints and since I think the prices are almost the same, it might not matter for you but for us, it made sense to be economical this way.
