Putting up a swing set

Did anyone put down anything around the actual swing set like rubber mulch or just left it grass??? Just curious if there is anything no too expensive to put down that is safe.

Re: Putting up a swing set

We are having a swingset installed in 6-8 weeks... LOL

Anyway - to answer your question the rubber mulch is expensive - Its like $850 yard for a 17x30 swingset you need 2 yards and then those rubber bumper thingys thats another $1200 - all together it was just under $4k....

CRAZY....

so for me I am doing nothing this year - DD is only going to be 1 years old end of april so she really wont be ruining the grass - Next year I will have to think og something...

GOOD LUCK

In our old house we used wood mulch and I hated it, very inexpensive but soo dirty. For the new house we are getting really small gravel.

The indoor/outdoor gym type interlocking mats that BJ's/Costco sells. I think it cost us $100 to pad under the set Chat Icon

Better check the fall protection rating on those. They'll stop your knees from getting scraped, but they may not absorb a fall from a swing set. They sell rubber mats specifically for under swing sets, but they're usually 6-8" thick.

Thanks, I'm sure they're not meant for high falls, but it's going to be that or grass which honestly doesn't make a difference, I'm just looking for something so DD won't get muddy...whenever she'll be playing on it we'll be there, so hopefully we won't have falls that are too badChat Icon
