Pyschological Discussion-- re: TWW Symptoms
I see people post all the time about their symptoms and wondering if this *could* be a sign of early pregnancy-- I do it myself and don't always even post about every little thing.
Now, a lot of what I personally feel are not necessarily new symptoms-- it could be gas, PMS, or just generally feeling crappy. But there is always the thing in the back of your mind that says, well maybe this is it. Also since the TWW symptoms of early pregnancy are so similar to PMS symptoms, there is a lot of room for confusion.
Just wondering for everyone else-- when you have a symptom-- is it like a totally new feeling/symptom for you, or is it something you just notice more, and hoping it is a *sign*?

Re: Pyschological Discussion-- re: TWW Symptoms
I recently went off the pill (in November) so what I'm feeling are totally new symptoms but I'm thinking are the symptoms people who are not on the pill feel all the time. For example I've NEVER had sore nipples before but have for the past 2 1/2 weeks! Very annoying!

Re: Pyschological Discussion-- re: TWW Symptoms
I think for the most part we just become very in tune with our bodies. We notice every little thing, even if we had had the "symptom" before, we probably didn't notice it. Also a lot of us were on the pill, so when we go back to natural cycles, things can feel very different, especially considering while on the pill ovulation doesn't occur, so we never had the time between ovulation and AF. I try not to overanalyze while I am in the 2ww, but it is difficult!! And DH doesn't help. Like today I am not feeling well and I called him to tell him this and he says "You're pregnant." So I guess it goes for us and for our DHs

Re: Pyschological Discussion-- re: TWW Symptoms
Yeah-- I have been getting the sore nipples when off the pill too. That was something I never had before-- even before the pill.
My DH points at my stomach and says "make babies!"
It's so hard to distinguish the feelings and when you constantly are thinking about it-- it's mind over matter really I guess.
I am just trying to figure out if there is any stock in researching symptoms and feelings. I know it's better to just chill-- but it's hard!

Re: Pyschological Discussion-- re: TWW Symptoms
The cycle before my BFP I thought I had every symptom under the sun. Sensitive boobs, cramps, hunger, lightheadedness, etc. So when AF showed i was quite discouraged. Since I had only been off the pill since Sept., i think these were just normal pre-AF symptoms that I just never had because of the pill. The one and only thing that tipped me off to go test this past cycle was that at about 6DPO I woke up and my left boob was killing me right where it meets your armpit. It was so severe that I was seriously considering calling a doctor if it didn't let up over that coming weekend. Lo and behold, I tested a few days later at 12DPO and wham, BFP. Of course, everyone is different, but for me, something just didn't feel quite right.

Re: Pyschological Discussion-- re: TWW Symptoms
i had three cycles off borth control before i got PG. i thought everything was a symptom b/c i had never felt it before - well, duh, since i had been on BC for 9 years!!
the month i got PG i was planning on just ignoring any symptoms i had, but i had really strong AF cramping from 6-9DPO, bleeding gums at 9DPO, and i almost vomited when i smelled baby formula at 9DPO as well. i just knew that i was PG, since none of those were things i could have "overanalyzed" but i was still shocked when i got my BFP at 10DPO.

Re: Pyschological Discussion-- re: TWW Symptoms
I think it could be both. I know there are certain symptoms I've had whne pregnant that I don't have any other time, like cravings for dairy(I will chug milk right out of the carton and only can eat a certain type of cottage cheese) heartburn and really sore bbbs. Then I think there are others that fool us-like you said gas, etc

Re: Pyschological Discussion-- re: TWW Symptoms
And I know that I'm more in tune with every little twinge.....soreness, and "possible sign". It's part of the TWW, and it drives us all crazy.......
I can only imagine when I do get my BFP, I'll be worse. After 2 m/c every twinge will scare the heck out of me, I'm sure.

Re: Pyschological Discussion-- re: TWW Symptoms
A couple of cycles when we were TTC that I wasn't PG I had a couple of "symptoms" that I got excited over, but ended up as nothing. My bo@bs were REALLY sore like when I was PG (only happened 1 month), and another month I spotted at 8dpo which never even happened with either PG.
Now with both my PG's I had different early PG symptoms. (Both were boys ) With my first PG I had a few sharp twinges and 1 dizzy spell. I got some AF like cramps the day of my BFP which was 9dpo. With my 2nd PG I never had any sharp pains, but I had VERY BAD AF cramps from 6-8dpo and A LOT of creamy CF. I thought AF was there everytime I got cramps. I also had one night, I think 4 or 5dpo that I just couldn't stop eating. Weird! I also woke up in the middle of the night with AF cramps. I also had a feeling I might be when I just didn't feel right. I felt "off". Can't really explain it. I did have that feeling with the 1st PG but it was after I got my BFP. I was definitely looking for symptoms though.
There were always little cramps and twinges here and there every cycle. We just like to hope/pray that they mean something!

Re: Pyschological Discussion-- re: TWW Symptoms
I am definitely too aware of everything my body does during the 2ww....totally overanalyzing "symptoms" that have probably always been there...I just wasn't paying attention. I'm 6dpo right now and no real symptoms to speak of!

I totally think it's psychological.
We're not even trying, yet I analyze everything every month!

Re: Pyschological Discussion-- re: TWW Symptoms
we got our bfp on the second month of trying. the first month our timing was off (no OPKs). during that 2ww, I thought I felt symptoms.... purely psychological
HOWEVER, the month I got my BFP, it was obvious. My cycle normally has almost no PMS symptoms, and this time my boobs hurt a lot, they were very swollen, and I had constant dull AF-like cramping. It was so overt that I only really needed the test as confirmation. I was certain I was preggo before POAS.
the difference between the 2 months were fairly obvious, in retrospect. The first month, I was overanalyzing every passing sensation and there were none that were consistent, while the 2nd month, the pains literally would wake me up in the morning.
hope that helps
