Q about reaction to shots...

Hi ladies, DS has his first shots this week and i am soooooooooooooo nervous! If your DC had a reaction to the shots, how soon after did it occur? How long after the shots do I have to be worried about a reaction? TIA Chat Icon

I would say that after 2-3 days if you haven't had a reaction yet you aren't going to get one.

Re: Q about reaction to shots...

At 1 year old, so far the only reaction DD had to any of the shots from the 2 month ones on was sleepiness.

Reactions happen to some kids but they are less common than you probably think they are and most are really minor....maybe a low-grade fever that you can treat with Tylenol.

ETA - for the 2 month shots, any reaction will probably appear in a few days....some of the shots at a year or more like MMR or chicken pox can cause a reaction that doesn't appear for 7-10 days. Just relax and look out for anything out the ordinary, your ped will give you instructions on what do and how much Tylenol to give if DC runs a fever. Chat Icon
