Q about the new front load washers

for those of you who have the new style washers and dryers, are they really worth the extra $$? I love the fact that they have a larger capacity, but are they truly more energy efficient than the regular one's?

LOL I know, I love how they look. I was reading a post on here a few days ago (can't remember which one) and someone was saying how they paid $1500 for the washer/dryer but then the hookups and delivery cost another $1,000! Chat Icon some other people said they had to pay the same amount. now I can justify the extra $800 or so for these appliances, but $1K more on top of that? Chat Icon

Re: Q about the new front load washers

We got one that really wasn't all that much more expensive then a top loader and it has been great! And I don't think our delivery and hook up was any more expensive then it would have been for the front loader. I don't have any numbers to compare the energy saving too, -but it has a good energy star rating and we got $50 back from LIPA for it.
It definatley uses less water - I thought it wasn't working right at first b/c it was so much less, but it works great!

I do own the new washer and dryer. IMO, they are so worth the $$, they are very large and more efficient. I do not have any regrets buying them.

We have the LG washer and dryer and love it. It does use less water, I believe it detects how much clothes you have in the washer and slowly ads water until it is sufficent to clean it. I feel like it actually cleans better and they do come out "drier" so you dont have to put the drier on for as long. My DH installed both so we just paid for the washer and dryer. We also received the $50 rebate from LIPA.

Re: Q about the new front load washers

I think over time they are worth while. They use very little water and very very little soap (the repair man told me one tablespoon of liquid soap is more than enough) the $ you save on the soap and water alone could balance the cost of the machines.
I do a lot of laundry and it is just my husband and me but we each have 2 or more sets of clothes each day (work clothes) and last year I bought 3 of those big tides (300oz) from Costco. That lasted the whole year and was about $55 buck.

Mine came with the house so I wasnt able to do the lipa rebate.
The other thing is mine are stacked so they take up so much less space. I have them in a closet and all my "wash" supplies in there with it no need for a large Laundry Room.

Re: Q about the new front load washers

I used to have a front load. I will never get one again. I am the person who finds things I meant to toss in with the laundry and forgot to, so I prefer the top load. We have a Maytag and it holds or king sized sheets, and the king sized comforter, no problem.

Oh. me too...good to know..I have a regular washer and dryer..the washer is about 4 yrs old and we bought it and the dryer came with the house..I'll eventually replace the dryer but I too find things last minute and throw it in.

I have the Kenmore front loaders and loooove them. Clothes seem to last longer/ look better longer. Also they are very water and energey efficiant and I feel like the clothes come out so much cleaner!!

My washer and dryer have a PAUSE button that if you find something you want to throw in last minute you can pause it, open the door, throw it in or grab it out, and press start again and the machine picks up where it left off.
