Q about washing babies clothes

Did you just use the dreft or did you use the baby dryer sheets in the dryer? I didn't buy the dryer sheets but wondering if i should. TIAChat Icon

Re: Q about washing babies clothes

I quickly washed a few things in our new washer, just so baby had something. I did not use the baby dryer sheets, but I plan on getting them soon for the rest of the stuff. And I didn't use Dreft (too much $$$$). I used Tide Free.

Re: Q about washing babies clothes

I don't use any dryer sheets personally, and I use All free & clear detergent.

The dryer sheets have a weird waxy feel & I do not want that stuff on his clothes or skin. JMO.

Hmm, I have not washed anything yet, but thought the dryer sheets were nt a good idea, because the take out any fire retardency some clothes/baby bedding may have...I don't know, maybe i am wrong....

Re: Q about washing babies clothes

haven't washed anything yet, but i bought dreft because i love the smell... we'll see how long that lasts, though, since dreft is so expensive and i've heard that babies go through an inordinate amount of clothing every day. i'll probably end up going with one of the scent-free detergents and no dryer sheets (DH is allergic to dryer sheets, so i won't be taking any chances with DS)

Re: Q about washing babies clothes

I have not washed anything yet however I did buy Dreft and Downy Free & Sensitive fabric softner.

I probably will eventually switch to Baby All or Purex Baby since Dreft is $$$

any type of fabric softener is generally a no-no, as the coating that it leaves behind reduces fire retardency.

Re: Q about washing babies clothes

I've been using Tide Free & Clear...COSTCO sells Kirkland brand free and clear as well..

But I do NOT use any fabric softener or dryer sheets, as they are proven to reduce the fire retardency of the clothing, as Karen mentioned...

Right...and the baby's clothes are very soft to begin with so you don't need to use it, unless you use those Dreft sheets in the dryer...

Re: Q about washing babies clothes

My friend bought me Dreft for my baby shower so I am just using that, no softners. If I didnt get the Dreft, I was going to use All Free & Clear only.

We have HE washer as well, and the Tide free and clear DOES come in HE formula....so does the Costco brand! And last time I was there, 300 oz container was $11.99!
