Q about your crib mattress if your DC is standing...Not sure if this is normal?

I'm just not sure if this is normal or not...

Not sure how to explain this but - My DS's mattress (the outer part which is some waterproof material) is not tight it is a little loose - so if it is pushed it will scrunch. So since DS started standing and walking in the crib it bunches in parts (it did not do this when he was younger) so if I run my hand over the mattreess when it is in the crib it is not completely smooth it has parts where the plastic is a little bumpy. I called PBK (where I got it) and they were SO HELPFUL and immediately sent me a new mattress - but I could see that it was also not tight and sure enough a few days of DS standing on it and it has started to do that again.

But, I am not sure if this is normal or if I should call to get a different mattress? TIA!

Ok does no one responding mean this IS normal or not normal? I'm actually not really worried about it for DS but, more for an infant - i.e. our next baby. I want to call PB about it asap though since i just got the new mattress...

Sorry, I can't help, but didn't want you to think no one was listening. My DD's mattress does not have a plastic covering. We have a mattress pad that is lined to make it waterproof, but the mattress itself has no plastic.

I think I am explaining it wrong - its not a plastic covering - its just the actual mattress I am talking about - which is like some waterproof material. Thank you though!

OK, then, no, mine does not do that and it sounds like a defect in design. I would return it!

DD is just starting to pull herself up in her crib (like the last month or so) but her mattress does not bunch at all. It seems pretty solid.

I don't think this is normal, DS stands up in his crib and there is no bunching at all, the mattress is pretty firm. And I think it has to be firm especially for a new born to prevent SIDS.

I would say return it and get it from somewhere else.

We bought our Crib from PBK but our mattress from BRU and its worked out well.

Also I read somewhere that a crib matress should be firm and have resistance, for instance if you push it in with your finger or hand it should have resistance, KWIM.

Did you get a really firm mattress to start? DS hasn't had any problems like that and he got one of the most firm mattresses out there.

We have a PBK mattress and it doesn't bunch.
