Q for anyone who has bought a Stainless Steel sink lately
I haven't so I am asking here, my mom was looking for a SS sink and she saw an 18 gauge sink.
My DH told her to look for at least 16 gauge as its thicker and will give off less "noise" when water hits it etc..
She could only find 17 gauge (which DH thought they went in even #'s) She's in Florida, is this odd?
Anyone have a 16 gauge SS sink?
Thanks!

Re: Q for anyone who has bought a Stainless Steel sink lately
Quote from last month's Consumer Reports article on kitchen sinks:
Stainless: Gauge doesn't matter. More people buy stainless steel kitchen sinks than any other type. We tested 18- to 23-gauge sinks (available to subscribers) ; the lower the gauge, the thicker the steel. We also listened to the noise made by running water and dropped weights to see if we could hear a difference between the thicker and thinner models. All resisted dents, stains, scratches, and heat, and silenced noise similarly.

I didn't think gauge matter too much too, so I guess I agree with Consumer Reports.

We are in the process of redoing our kitchen and saw 16 gauge sinks at Home Depot. I believe the sink cost around $350-400 and was made by Pegagus.
