Q if you have a bellini crib - or any crib maybe? Re: smell after delivery...

My son's crib was just delivered and set up today and it STINKS so bad like varnish - I don't want my son in the room with it let alone in it! I called bellini and they said it was normal and fine and just let it air out - well six hours later and it still smells in his room!

Did this happen to anyone else? I have it in the mahogany color not sure if that makes a difference.

We have a Bellini and I don't remember any smell. If it still smells tomorrow I'd have them send you a new one. Chat Icon

I remember a slight smell of varnish at first but nothing like what you are describing (we have a Bellini crib/furniture as well). I would definitely call them again if it doesn't go away and complain.

Between my sister and myself,we have had 3 whole Bellini sets. No smell ever.

If it still stinks tomorrow, ask for another PRONTO! With all the lead scares lately,etc..you can't be too careful.

I was going to buy a crib from the states, and in all of the reports on BRU website say it smelled strongly of paint for a few days. But the smell will go away, it will take some time...six hours isn't enough. Give it a few days.

I have a mahogany bellini set, no smell.... the only smell I recall is when I opened the drawers, but it was more like that new wood smell, 7 months later i dont smell anything but that smell only lasted 2 days...in the drawer.

So i just called bellini again b/c the crib still smells very strongly. I spoke with customer service and they said sometimes this happens when the crib is packed too quickly after it is finished...so i just have to wait and deal...UGH...must say, between this and the fact that they forgot to deliver my dresser...I am NOT happy with Bellini right now! Thanks for the responses though!

My crib smell went away after a little whiile (maybe a day or so) but the amoire that I have - when you open it up, it still has a bad smell to it. Even the drawers still smell a bit like varnish. I hate it!
