Q on what kind of words count
Do the words have to be perfect to count?
Like I realized today that DS was saying Ba for book. Does that count as a word?
And mmm and mmmm ma are different.
mmmm is for more (I think!). He did it after his show was over and he came to me and said mmmmm while whining... as usual when his shows end.
Then he says... mmmm mmm ma. So I think it's 'more" and "mama".

yes those count as words as long as he is using the same approximation for the object each time.

Re: Q on what kind of words count
Pronunciation doesn't count.... good thing, too, otherwise many of us wouldn't "know" the words "coffee", "Long Island", "talk", etc....

Re: Q on what kind of words count
I was told at 18 mos:
20 words that only had to be said once in his life that only I would have to understand.
Josh will say "eese" and I know its cheese.
If he says "eese" with his hand out I know its please.
I count as two different words.

Re: Q on what kind of words count
I counted the words when they were clear & were used to mean something. Most people I know count the word when it takes on the meaning no matter how clear.
For example, "Bah" & pointing to a ball didn't count for me. It counted to the grandmas.
