Q re: Your body the first week after delivery.
Ok here is another stupid post that I'm sure will make everyone laugh at how clueless I am.
So I was totally not prepared for the fact that after leaving the hospital I still looked about 6-7 mos pg. I thought I would just look fat but not have the same hard rounded stomach like a pg belly.
Now at 5 days pp I look about 4-5 months pg. It is scaring me. Is thsis the way it is supposed to be or does this mean they left something behind? If this is normal how long until I look fat and not pg?
Finally, is it ok to wear tight fitting clothes or is it not good to put pressure on the uterus as it contracts. I've been wearing all sweats since my early pg clothes are still tight around my belly at the band.
Thanks laadies!

Re: Q re: Your body the first week after delivery.
I doubt they left anything else in there. I was told at 3 month pp I was going to look about 5 months pregnant so I was prepared with stretch pants & a sweatshirt.
I wore maternity clothes for another 3 weeks & caved to buy the bigger size.
Since you're nursing, it should come off quickly.

Re: Q re: Your body the first week after delivery.
I am 2 months PP and I def. still have a pregnant belly. It looks like I am a few months preggo.
Be prepared - it gets very depressing!! I tried on all my old pants yesterday and none of them fit me yet.

Re: Q re: Your body the first week after delivery.
I am 2 weeks pp and look pregnant still. I remember with DS that it was the same thing and I had a belly for a while. At least last time it was winter and I could get away with a sweatshirt and no one could see the big belly. This is probably the most depressing thing about having the baby-- all you want is to be back to your old self but it does take a lot of time.

What you are describing sounds perfectly normal.

Re: Q re: Your body the first week after delivery.
I'm almost 4 months PP and I still have a much bigger belly than I did before.
But I haven't been able to exercise at all because of my back.
My body just simply is NOT the same since the baby. I feel like every single part of me changed.

I am almost 4 weeks pp and still have a belly-I'd say I look about 3-4 months pg but it definitely is going down-it has gone down tremendously since I left the hospital. Give it some time

Re: Q re: Your body the first week after delivery.
at 1 week pp you still have some fluids and stuff to get rid of so it will get better. Nursing will help too. Some people lose it all naturally (usually not at 1 week pp). And others it takes some work even after your body gets done healing. unfortunately i fall in the latter category. So exercise and WW here I come. Congratulations and don't sweat this stuff now. Enjoy the baby.

Re: Q re: Your body the first week after delivery.
i was also shocked the first week i came home, i had only lost 7 lbs! looking back at pictures and videos i still looked pregnant, i was so depressed about it but i can happily say that after that first week the weight just flew off, i am now 9W PP and lost 30lbs, i still have like 10 more to lose, but i am happy so much has come off already. give yourself time, everyones body is so different, even though i dont look preggos anymore, my body shape changed, i never had hips before and they are def wider now. Good luck!
