Quality review...... who else is gearing up for it?
.. and is your school going CRAZY?!
My administration is driving everyone absolutely insane with checklists and threats that they will be coming around every sing day.........
ETA: If they really want an accurate assessment of the school, they should come around completely unannounced! I seriously will NEVER understand the point of this. It's a totally inaccurate assessment and seriously just a circus performance. Teachers are being trained in how to answer questions. I mean.. really

I hate quality review. YOu get all worked up and NOBODY ends up coming into your room. You put on your game face and your razzle dazzle. Make sure those bulletin boards, task sheets and rubrics are up. Because that really gives you an accurate picture on the student progress (ya, right).
I HATE task sheets. They really can't figure out what I was teaching that day. Come on! The checklists, just so the administration can show that they are giving up feedback. Another thing for show. I am so sick of the time I spend on BS.

Last year someone in my school used the term "dog and pony show". It is so fake it isn't funny. Money and time is better spent on other things. Ironically in many cases the children are ignored around the time of quaility review.
It judges which schools put on the best show, not which schools are doing what they are supposed to be doing.

This is ABSOLUTELY the case!!!!!! I do my most ineffective teaching around the time of quality review! Too much effort is spent making sure my portfolios are up to date.. and bulletin boards look pretty.. etc.
I felt so bad, my kids did an assignment and were excited to get their grades (usually I'm really fast at grading things and giving them back) .. but I hadn't even looked at them yet because I've been so overwhelmed with meaningless other crap

It's so true about those checklists!! It really is just to cover themselves since I'm sure the principal hounds them about this stuff.......
I have so much work to do on my bulletin boards .. portfolios.. that legitimate teaching probably won't happen until sometime in March
ETA: Ohhh.. and the SMART goals...... Tomorrow instead of doing my regularly scheduled ELA lesson I will be catching up on those goal worksheets. Ohhh pleaseeeee My students' goals are to get up in the morning and get to school on time!

I WISH this part was true for me. I am always on visitation schedules and I've been on the teacher panel every time we've had Quality Review. For our last Quality Review, there were half a dozen adults in my room for 30 minutes. It's such a distraction and makes me so nervous when they start asking the kids questions.

I rarely get anybody in my room. I am a special education teacher and I usually get the classes with the behavior issues. Fun fun!
Good luck everyone. My school is actually not getting a visit this year. We did real well the last few years and our grade was an A last year that they aren't coming.
