Re: queens apartments

I could tell you what neighborhoods are good, but I don't know prices sorry. We own a coop so I don't know rental prices. The neighborhoods you should do some research on are:

Whitestone
Bayside
Bellerose
Glen Oaks
Oakland Gardens
Bay Terrace
Fresh Meadows
Forest Hills

I rent in bayside and it's $$$$

there is only 1 real rental building in bayside- and it is not nice IMHO-

I park there and I here stories from the people living there- they wanted over $1500 for a tiny one bedroom

the other option is finding an aprtment in a house- which is what we are planning on looking for next- those seemed to range from $1300 and up

We lived in an apartment in Bayside in 2002-2003. It was an apartment in a house and it was $1200 for a one bedroom.

Personally I would never rent part of someone's house ever again, it was horrible, but that could have been that landlord.

there are TONS of garden apartments for rent in Bayside.

Right outside of Forest HIlls is Rego Park, you might be able to find something there?

Re: queens apartments

We had a two bedroom in Astoria that was $1500/mo - so I am sure you could find a 1-bed in your price range. It was in the Ditmars area, I thought the neighborhood was great - quiet, pretty easy to find parking, lots of really good restaurants.

That's were we are and it is great. It is right on the border of Forest Hills but the apartments are cheaper and bigger. Most of the apartment buildings here are older so they are much bigger and have eat-in kitchens. You can definitely get a very good size 1 bedroom for under $1300.

Just waned to add: the neighbourhood is very safe, a lot of old people and young families with kids and a lot of different kind of food stores with all kinds of goodies, yum!Chat Icon

There are also tons of co-ops that allow the owners to rent them out. So there are a lot of rentals in bayside. Although many of the co-ops are garden apts.

I meant Bayside, not just Bay Terrace. You said there is only one rental unit in Bayside. You did not specify Bay Terrace.
