question
Hello Ladies,
I am looking for some advice. DH and I go back and forth about TTC. With that said, I am getting very stress out at work and decided to look for a new job. Has anyone been in the same boat? How did you handle it? Was maternity leave effected at all if you started a new job? Any advice would be great..THANKS

Re: question
My opinion is to do whatever it is that you would ordinarily do if you weren't TTC. If you would like to get a new job, look for a new job just as if you weren't TTC, bc honestly, you never know how long it will take you to get pregnant. You might think it will happen right away and one year later be sitting at the same job wishing you would have left when your gut told you to. I hope this never happens to you, but the chance is always there, and you only live once, so do whatever your gut tells you to do. I'm sorry if I'm coming off strong, but I based my whole life upon the fact that I was going to be pregnant two years ago, and I'm still not there. Granted, my situation is extreme, but like I said, the possibility is always there. I wish you the best of luck and a short, exciting TTC adventure.

Re: question
well I would not leave my current job right now although I would want to, and I can make upwards of $10K more a year at a nother place beasically because of my time in and Im afraid with TTC I will need that seniority....
I was able to discuss with my boss my TTC issues and get time off I may not have been able to take at a new job....
So its a hard hard situation...I wish you luck whatever you choose. For me, it was age, I felt that if I wanted the family I wanted I could no longer put it off...and since I will be working easily till at least 70 yrs old...lol...I could afford to stay at this job now, and go places later....
You really have to weigh all the pros and cons and make the best decision for YOU!
We need me to work, but god forbid I lost my job or had to leave due to maternity etc...We would manage on one salary( dh's) ...I kinda made sure of that before I went ahead with taking the next step in TTC...
for some it may take a while to get PG...say 6 months, switching jobs may not be a problem, because 6 months may be enough time to go ahead and take some time...and remember pg is 9 long months

Re: question
I would definitely look for a new job, if that is what you are going to do. My only question is - do you have insurance through your DH. Sometimes at new job, you have to wait a couple of months for medical insurance.
About waiting - do it now. DH and I decided to TTC right after our wedding. I got laid off from my job a week before our wedding. We decided - oh I won't look for work and try to get pregnant. Well I got married in October, here we are now - not pregnant and no job. So here I am TTC and looking for a job, which looking for a job is stressing me out and I am sure impeding on me getting pregnant.
So I guess what I am trying to say, is do what your gut is telling you to do. Lots of Luck to you!

Re: question
I agree -- you should carry on with your life, do whatever will make you happy and fulfilled, if that means looking for a new job then so be it. But yes, make sure you get insurance...!
