Question
I have a very close friend that is in her 4th attempt of IVF...
this was her first update:
"the dr. just called me to tell me that both eggs fertilized!
2nd update: "I just heard from my doctor and he said the transfer will not happen because the embryo did not divide yet. They are going to put it in another dish and if all goes well I am scheduled for Sunday. If not then I will not have it done and because of the quality of my eggs they don't recommend it again."
3rd update "we are scheduled to return tomorrow (Sunday) Embryos divided"
They divided in 6.....
Sunday they were inserted...
Questions: What does it mean that is divided in 6?
How many embryos are inside of her if they did all?
What are her chances?
Thanks ladies for any info you can give and if you can say a little prayer for her as well...it would be welcomed..

Re: Question
Do you know how many days the transfer was? If it was a 3-day, sounds like the embies were good. If it was a 5 day, the embies sound a little weak.

If I am not mistaken its a 5 day:
Nov 20 - eggs fertilized Nov 21 - Dr. called embryos did not divide..trying another dish Nov 25 - she went in to get embryos inside of her.
Now is the waiting period...

does that mean there are chances of 6 babies? Or is it still the initial two that were fertilized?
Sorry if the question is stupid.

No, if they only transferred two eggs back, then there is a chance of twins, it just means that the embryo's have divided into 6 cells, does not mean there is a chance of 6 babies.

Re: Question
I had a 6 cell on a day 5 transfer and my doctor said it "wasn't the best looking embryo." By day 5 they like to see it become a "blastocyst" which means they can't even count how many cells there are because it's growing so fast. But that doesnt mean anything. It could still turn out fine.
Best of luck to your friend! If she ever needs anything, even if its just support, let her know we're here!

Thank you sooo much...I have told her about this site...but I don't think she has used it....she's been trying for 6 years. So we are praying hard for this to be her miracle.
