question about anovulatory bleeding
if this is not a "real period", would you get PMS symptoms? of, if i had pms symptoms, would it be safe to say it was a normal period and NOT anovulatory bleeding? thanks

Re: question about anovulatory bleeding
Hard to tell...I would go to the Dr. for a Cycle Day 3 test - they can tell for sure based on your estrogen, FSH and progesterone levels.

Re: question about anovulatory bleeding
The only way to tell is from having your progesterone tested.

At what point in your cycle was this? Was it before the bleeding? If so how many days before?
Progesterone levels will change throughout your cycle. It gets higher when you ovulate and stays that way until you get your period, when the levels drop off. So if you ovulated the doctor would be able to tell by seeing your progesterone level after ovulation, before you get your period.

Exactly...that's why a Cycle Day 3 blood test is needed...they draw blood on the third day after you've gotten your period and check the estrogen/progesterone levels to see if you've ovulated. Usually, they will check your FSH also.
