Question about attire to bridal shower in the city tomorrow....anyone ever been to The Friars Club?
Going to future SIL's bridal shower in the city tomorrow. It's at The Friars Club. The last few events I've been to with these people everyone has been pretty dressed up.
I want to wear a cotton mock turtleneck black dress with 3/4 sleeves with a black patent leather belt around the waist and knee high boots. I love the outfit, but even though it's the city I question if it's appropriate for a brunch/bridal shower....I know anything flies in the city, but do you think that a black cotton dress with knee-high boots is appropriate for daytime?
Also, has anyone ever been to The Friars Club? Is it dressy?
My other option is black pants and a cute top.
TIA!

I've never been there, but I think your dress sound nice. Normally, I wouldn't wear all black to a shower, I usually go with something more festive, but it's in the city- black in the daytime is pretty common.
And it's cotton, so that sounds like it qualifies as a daytime dress.
I try not to wear pants for these things, unless it is really crappy weather, or I know it's really casual.

I think the dress/belt combo is fine - If nothing else you'll look like you fit in perfectly in the middle of the city - If you feel you need to dress it up a bit, what about a pair of heels in place of the boots ?? - I'm loving those peep toe mary janes ........ -

ITA! I would suggest peep toe wedges or heels as an alternative to the boots. That would dress it up a bit.

Thanks. The boots are actually pretty dressy though....3 inch heels. I have actually decided to go with a gray dress that is similar with the black belt and black boots. Who knows...at this point I'm so sick of worrying about it!

I think it sounds nice, but I think it's supposed to be warm tomorrow.
