Question about Bfing and beer?
I gave in after being prego and 5m pp, i had to have a beer.. (3 actually) Now that was last night. How many times do I pump and dump before i can give my dd. She is no longer EBFed, i have been giving formula b/c supply isnt meeting her needs. Should i just give her formula all day and start bm again tomorrow, just to make sure its all out of system?

If it's out of your system, it's out of your milk.

Re: Question about Bfing and beer?
the general rule that i've read is, as long as you're sober enough to drive, you're sober enough to breastfeed. i have followed that rule since ds was born and i've never had a problem - i.e., ds is cognitively intact, his liver is fine, and he's definitely never been drunk!
what that boils down to for most women is 1 drink per hour - it takes about an hour for your liver to metabolize a beer.
if you drank your three beers in fewer than 3 hours, i would pump and dump the one feeding following the drinks. if you drank more slowly, i wouldn't worry about dumping anything. you certainly don't have to dump the whole day's milk! the beers are WAY out of your system by now.

that's fine. If you have fallen asleep and never pumped - you would still be ok - it's all about time.

This is what I follow as well. I'm still BFing at 9-1/2 months, and plan to continue for a while longer. I would hate to think that I would have to give up my red wine during this time.

Same here...8 mths EBFing and I had 3 glasses of wine yesterday and came home and BF-ed DD. I use my judgement.

Re: Question about Bfing and beer?
I have heard that is metabolizes in 45 minutes. But too wait 2 hours until BFing. I have never done it but I am sure you would have been fine not dumping it.
