Question about braxton hicks
I know when you have braxton hicks your belly hardens. I dont know if this ALL braxton hicks or baby. Sometimes my belly will really harden up and become like lop sided but I dont feel movement. Sometimes it happens in two areas at once. Is that braxton hicks or baby?

Re: Question about braxton hicks
If your belly is getting hard it's probably BH. It feels different when it's just the baby pushing out or moving into a different position - at least to me it does. I think both can happen at the same time (movement during BH) so that could be what you are feeling.

Re: Question about braxton hicks
Yes this is usually really hard in one area like pushing out a little but it doesnt feel like movement. Is is possible to have like 20 braxton hicks a day? Is that normal? I am 33 1/2 weeks

I was actually hooked up to a contraction monitor today bc of this. I have them like every few minutes lately, and according to my doc- it is not labor, but kind of normal. He says kind of bc I might be dehydrated and it might be bc of my UTI. Otherwise the baby is fine. If you feel like it is unusual, then call your doc to ease your mind. It made me feel better to know that it wasn't premature labor. Feel better!

First off...Lauren, we need to stop being pregnancy twins with everything. You just described my night 2 weeks ago (hooked up to a monitor with contractions)!
But I agree with what people are saying. I basically start tightening - or having BH - around lunch and it doesn't stop until I go to bed. The DR said it could be dehydration, exhaustion, even my bladder being too full. Lots of stuff can cause BH. The warning signs of something more serious are if there is pain along with it, or if they become regular or form a pattern (like every 10 minutes).
In response to the original poster... I sometimes have a hard time distinguishing the feelings too. When I feel a tightening but only on one side, or feel lop-sided, I assume it's the baby. When it's my whole belly I assume it's BH.
