question about cord blood banking for baby number 2
My dh says you only have to do cord blood banking once for baby number one and then if anyting ever happens you can use that for baby number two if they got sick or somethign sicne they are brother or saster. I say you have to bank both babys cord blood . Who is right?

Not to say that you shouldn't do it, but if need be, the sibling would likely have a very strong match and be able to use your other child's cord blood.

Re: question about cord blood banking for baby number 2
Baby #2 could use Baby #1's chordblood Baby #1 could use Baby #2's but they can't use their own.
That's how it was explained to me by the doc so we banked both twins chord blood.
Hopefully, none of our families will ever need to use it
ETA: They do give a discount for multiples, they might give a discount when banking for your second child. I don't know but it can't hurt to ask.

He is correct. I banked #1 and #2's cord blood. I also intend on having more children and hope to never have to use it.

You would need to bank both - as the baby can't use their own but they should be able to use their sibling's cord blood

There are definitely situations in which the baby can use their own but in many cases they cannot. Definitely bank for a second baby. If the cord blood is needed for an adult, the usual amount of cells is really only enough for a 120 pound person. If parent needs it, it can be possible to use from both children and not have to supplement with outside cells.

Not really answering your question, but why can't a person use their own banked cord blood. I thought that was the purpose of it.
