Question about CV?
Hi All,
OK - today I did another First Reponse OPK test and I got a faint line.
After I was done, while I was getting dressed, I noticed CM.....does that mean I am ovulating?
I am a little confused. I thought that CM shows up when you ovulate?
help!
Thanks!

Re: Question about CV?
depending on the individual, cervical mucous can be present throughout the menstrual cycle, or just for part of it. it's the quality of the cervical mucous that is important to pay attention to. sticky mucous is generally not fertile mucous. as ovulation approaches, the mucous gets more and more watery and starts to resemble egg white. egg white mucous is the most fertile kind of mucous.
the presence of egg white mucous and getting a positive OPK aren't always perfectly in sync - the mucous typically starts to get watery before the surge actually happens, in preparation for ovulation.
i would say that if you've got watery or egg-white mucous, BD away! even if you don't ovulate for several days, the sperm can survive and wait around for the egg to show up.
hope this helps

Re: Question about CV?
It's watery and clear, not egg-white looking.
Maybe tomorrow that line will finally be dark!
Thanks!

Re: Question about CV?
I think you are taking you OPK test at the wrong time of day. You shouldn't be using FMU but waiting a couple of hours to pee and taking the test between 12-2 in the afternoon. Using FMU won't give you an accurate reading. As far as CM, you want it to be the consistancy of egg whites when you are ovulating. You can ovulate without it but it's needed to help the sperm travel. You can also check the position of your cervix to help to see if you are ovulation.
You may want to get the book, "Taking Charge of your Fertility", it explains a lot.
Also, Pumpkin Ale helps with the CM.

Re: Question about CV?
I just got that book from the library yesterday!
I am taking the test in the AM when I wake up.
After this month, I am going to get the Clearblue easy digital one and I will take it at a different time of day.
Thanks!

You won't get an accurate reading if you keep doing it in the morning.
