Question about electric heat....
The house we bought in NC has electric forced-air heat and a digital thermostat......my question is....if you lose power, does the digital thermostat automatically go to the last setting you had it on when the power goes back on???
I ask this because I called the electric company in NC because I haven't gotten my first bill yet (we closed on September 29th)....They told me the builder shut off the electric on October 18 and we haven't had power since.....(I thought the electric was put in our name to begin with! What do I know? Nice of the builder to let us know he was shutting it off, by the way)....
So, when we last visited the house, we set the thermostat to 60 degrees so the pipes wouldn't freeze over the winter (we aren't moving down there until Feb.).
I am worried that when the power gets turned on tomorrow, the thermostat won't be set.....does anyone know about these things???

Re: Question about electric heat....
My parents have an all electric house, and when we lose power, the thermostat always stayed off until my Dad went and reset it. It would blink a number 50 or 60. I don't know how much this helps, tho. Good luck Michelle!

Re: Question about electric heat....
You should do a search of the maker of the thermostat. We have gas heat but the thermostat is electric. We have lost power a few times and the thermostat has a battery backup for power outages, etc.

This is what I was thinking. We have a digital therm. but oil/hot water. I don't remember what happens in an outage but I'm sure it has to have some sort of battery back up. My electric heat was a manual control sorry.
I'd look up the manf. / model for info.
