Question about first ped appt tomorrow
These might sound like dumb questions but....
1. Shoul di bring DS into office in his car seat or in my arms?
2. DO i bring my diaper bag in case he needs a diaper change?
3. What is easiest to dres him in? I think they have to strip him down right?
4. What do they usually do the 1st appt?

I just brought Amelia today for her 1st appt. I brought her into the office in her carseat (it worked because she was sleeping anyway). I brought a full diaper bag- thank goodness- they asked for everything from a clean diaper to a receiving blanket to keep her warm after they stripped her down. I dressed her in regular clothes- they stripped her down but it wasn't a big deal to get her redressed. They checked her weight, length, vitals, head circ, checked in her eyes/ears/nose, and gave her a vaccine. We were in and out in 35 mins...

Absolutely bring him in the car seat.
Its easier to handle - plus you don't have to worry about strapping him in the carseat outside in the cold.
I always bring in a diaper bag for diaper change, in case child spits up etc..
When my children were little - I always found one piece pjs to be the easiest. Also bring an extra blankie in the office with you. Sometimes the nurse will ask for you to take the baby's clothes off - and they make you wait a few minutes - so the blankie will keep him warm.
At the first doctors appt - they check the belly button to see if its healing correctly, weight, etc....

Not dumb questions at all!
1. I brought Lily in a carseat - made it easier to fill out any paperwork.
2. Bring the diaper bag everywhere...newborns poop. a lot. And anytime you don't bring the diaper bag means he will poop.
3. He's going to have to strip down to a diaper, so dress him in whatever is easiest. Pajamas would be fine even.
4. They check height, weight, ask about eating and sleeping, not a very long visist if everything is going well.
If you're formula feeding, I would suggest bringing an extra bottle in case there's a wait.

1. Do you have a travel system or snap and go? I would bring that in and keep a blanket over his face.
2. Bring diaper bag. My baby always had a dirty diaper at dr.
3. PJs. Then when you leave dr, take them right off of him, wash him down.
4. Mainly check his weight. Look over his body.

1. You can do either/or. This time with Tyler I took him out of the carseat bc I was still recovering from the c-section and went by myself - and my ped is upstairs. If I had my DH with me I would have left him in the carseat.
2. Bring your diaper bag. You will most likely have to put a new diaper on him.
3. I just had him in feety pjs - it was fine. You do get them totally naked.
4. They will do a bunch of different things. Listen to his chest, press down on his belly, weight, height, my doctor had him lean on his arm and kind of walk him (not sure what that does though!)

I would bring in the car seat because you'll have a place to set him down, etc., also-- he may be sleeping when you get there, AND you'll want to bring the wind cover down to "protect" him from whatever is flying around there.
Bring in your diaper bag because you have to take everything off of him for the exam and to be weighed, so you;ll prob change his diaper. Also, bring a blanket since he'll stay naked after the nurse weighs him and you are waiting for the doc.
Dress him in whatever is easiest for you to get off and on.
First appt-- they do a weight/height check.. answer any q's you have, and give you some info for what you need to know right now. Bring a notebook, and write down your questions ahead of time. You go back soon, so you'll prob have even more questions then!

I always bring the carseat so that they are contained and you aren't touching a lot and them.
Yes - DD always goes so she needs a change there.
Something easy to get in and out of - they have you dress your DC down to either just their diaper or naked.
They usually weight and measure them, check out ears, eyes, throat, body, let you ask questions etc. If there are any issues they are addressed at that time.

Bring car seat--I still bring him in it in the snap and go.
Definitely bring diaper bag! BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES! DS managed to pee AND poop all over his outfit when they were getting him naked! He also pooped through 2 or 3 diapers during the first appt. Bring something easy to get him in and out of--I'd say a button down footie PJs. Also blankets to keep him covered when he is naked.
They'll weigh him...First appt didnt take too long.

Bring him in him in his car seat. Bring a blanket to put over the car seat just in case. A lot of sick kids out there.
You will definitely need a diaper bag. Make sure you have wipes, diapers and a receiving blanket. The first thing they tell you to do is take his clothes off and leave him in his diaper. So the blanket will come in handy, so he won't get cold. ALso, they usually tell you to take off his diaper when they check his weight. If he is like my DS, he will pee all over the table. LOL
Make sure you bring all your paper work from the hospital. Also, the doctor will be asking you how many times in a day DS pee/poo.
Dress him in what is ever easiest to take off. Bring a change of clothes.
They will check his height, weight, head size. They will check his whole body, to make sure everything is okay. It is also for you to ask lots of questions. Make sure you write down all the questions you want to ask.
What Ped are you going to? Just wondering since we live in the same town.

Yes to the carseat (you'll have to fill out paperwork) yes to the diaper bag (babies always poop and pee when the diaper comes off)...I think I brought DS in his pj's or a footy type 1 piece outfit.

--we carry him in his seat. we carry him everywhere in that thing. half the time he falls asleep in it.

they have you strip him down to his diaper. If your DS is like mine and hates to be changed, something you can pull off quickly and easily.

i think its just a weigh in really. We were at the dr 2x his first week b/c of milk allergy issues so im not sure what a normal first visit would be. they told me just a weigh in.

No, not dumb questions.
1-Car seat is easier IMO
2-Yep, bring diaper bag, ya never know when (probably just get used to bringing where ever DS goes)
3-I had DD in a onesie...whatever is quickest to get on and off
4-Weight & Height check, ask some more questions about weight and dirty diapers, feedings, sleeping, basic stuff...gives you a chance to ask questions too

def bring a diaper bag, newborns will go and do go at any time 
dress him in something easy like pj's and the side snap tee underneath
(also I would bring a blanket with me) since they hate being naked I would put the blanket on her
I think they weigh them, check the belly button area and I honestly forget what else

1 - Definitely a car seat - you never know how long you will be waiting!
2- Bring a diaper bag- DS peed on the nurse and all over himself the first time he got weighed....
3-We always dressed him in pajamas because it was a lot easier to take that off quick than real clothes.
4-The first visit they went over his body and told us what everything was and how it should look (this was extremely helpful) . They did tests to make sure his hips were ok, etc... They weighed him and than they brought us in the dr. office to tell us what to do in terms of feeding, sleeping, etc..... Good luck!!

1:I always bring my baby in in his carseat ( I even drape a little blanket over it in the waiting room to shield him from germs)
2:Yes, diaper, wipes and change of clothes just in case
3:Onsie, footed pj and put him in his carseat in the bundle me, they do strip him down
4:They asked me about my history (when I was pregnant and my labor), examin the baby, weight the baby and talk about initial things (weight, eating ect) Have some questions as well. They will also check belly button and circumsition

Agree with the responses. We sill bring jake in with the car seat. Go with Matt or your mom whenever you can, as you'll find listening to the doctor and dressing/caring for Will all at the same time can be distracting, so its always good to bring a partner for extra ears and hands.
def bring your new (awesome) diaper bag. they take temp rectally and that can bring on poop.
pretty routine exam, but write down every question you can think of.
