Question about food - what is too much?
DD is almost 7 months old. We just started solids last month and she's gone through her fruits now.
We started veggies today. This is the schedule that the doctor put her on - do you think it's too much?
8 am - Bottle, cereal and fruit 12 pm - Fruit, Veggie, Bottle 4 pm - fuit, veggie, bottle 8pm - bottle
Now our doctor said give her as much as she wants but if I did that she would just keep eating. At this point I've been giving her 2 tablespoons of cereal and half a jar of fruit, then her bottle of about 5 ounces for breakfast for example.
And for lunch i am going to do 1/2 jair of fruit, veggie and again a 5 ounce bottle.
But am I not giving her enough? She would drink her entire bottle of 7 ounces I'm sure if I let her - but sometimes if she does this, she spits up.
How much formula should they have? Should I give her the whole jar of fruits and veggies? Should I do that and then she'll drink less formula? I'm so confused!
Thanks!

That sounds good to me! Actually, I give Steven a full jar of veggie and a full fruit.
ETS: But he's been eating fruits and veggies for 2 months now.

So when you give him these 2 jars, how much formula does he drink? And does he still drink a bottle with every meal?

Re: Question about food - what is too much?
I think as long as they get 24-30 oz of formula/BM they are OK, or something like that.. It seems your DD is probably getting close to that (between the bottles and cereal)?
My DD is the same age and I've been doing one serving of cereal and a whole jar of babyfood during the day then a larger serving of cereal and a jar (sometimes less) of food at night. But I like your menu too - more frequent/lighter/more varied meals..
I just noticed when DD ate more cereal she slept better sometimes, so I try to push it at night. And she's a big eater, and usually with the fruits she eats the whole jar with the cereal. but now she is back to waking up 2x a night, so who knows (I'm sure its the onset of teething related or something)..
But your day looks OK to me - I may try it myself!

Re: Question about food - what is too much?
Seems exactly like what I did with Megan.
She is almost 9 months now and here is her feeding schedule..
Bottle when she wakes up (about 5 oz.)
Hour later..cereal with formula and full jar of fruit
4 oz bottle of milk in afternoon
full jar of veggies, full jar of fruit for lunch
another 4 oz bottle
dinner is full jar of meat, full jar of veggie...full jar of fruit for dessert, if she wants it.
4 oz bottle to put her to sleep.
Doc says its exactly where she should be. He isnt big on starting people food until her 2 top teeth come in so we are holding off on that.

Re: Question about food - what is too much?
DS will be 7mths also and he drinks anywhere bet. 32-40oz per day along with the following:
Breakfast - cereal & whole (small) jar of fruit
Lunch - cereal & veggie and some left over fruit if I use the bigger sized jar in the morning
Dinner - I just started meats so he eats 1/3 of the jar along w/ cereal and some fruit (maybe 1/2 the jar).
I normally scoop about 8 teaspoons of cereal into his bowl if that helps with the portions. And I dont give him a bottle along with his meals. Bottle schedule is different. Sometimes I offer him 1 or 2 oz of water with dinner. My boy can eat and his size is perfectly in the 50%.

Re: Question about food - what is too much?
So it seems lke I'm doing this right. DD is a big baby - she's almost 7 months and I'm sure about 19 pounds so I didn't know if I was giving her too much formula. I know that sounds nuts to be worried about a baby's size but she is just so much bigger than all of the other baby's we see.

I feed DS as much/little as he wants, never force him. He normally goes hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm the entire time he is eating once he stops hmmmmmmmmmming and starts looking away he is done eating
With the bottle after he finishes 8oz and he is still looking for more I normally offer him his pacifier and he is content.
But do whatever works for you and DD. Every baby's eating schedule is different along with body size so dont worry if she appears bigger! Everyone says my son is so BIG meanwile he still fits into some 3mth old cloths (they must be on the bigger size range and normally wears 6mth clothing and is in his 50% so I dont care let them call him chubby all they want he is perfect regardless!
