Question about frozen Chicken

Hi all. I took chicken out of the freezer this morning around 9am and put it straight in the fridge to thaw. I'm not going to be able to cook it, so being it was still pretty frozen, I put it back in the freezer...do you think it will be ok? TIA

Re: Question about frozen Chicken

I would leave it in the fridge and eat it tomorrow for dinner.

you should never re-freeze any meat, especially chicken. it will be good if you cook it tomorrow, but not longer than that. I wouldn't chance it.

well, it didn't quite defrost...it was still frozen solid except for a tiny bit on the ends. I'm not sure if I'll be able to cook it even for tomorrow. Oh, now it's been back in the freezer for about 45 min....Chat Icon

I have read that you can put the meat back in the freezer if you kept it in the fridge but I am too chicken to try it out. (excuse the pun Chat Icon ) Since it's still partially frozen I might be tempted to try it but I would probably just cook it tomorrow or Friday.

yes you can refreeze it just don't let it stay in the freezer too many days cause then it won't taste as fresh/good
