Question about giving juice...
How much water do you put in and how much juice? I want to put it in the sippy cut not the bottle...I want to start introducing him to juice and to the sippy cup.
Also when I dilute the juice with water can I put regular tap water? or do I have to boil it first then let it cool down before giving it to him?

Re: Question about giving juice...
I want to start by only giving him a little...so could I do 1oz water and 1 oz juice?
I also need tips on teaching him to drink from a sippy cup. Do I just help him hold it and help him take sips???

Re: Question about giving juice...
I dilute it a lot. Like 25% juice, 75% water. She eats a lot of fruit, so I wanted to cut back on sugar.

Re: Question about giving juice...
I know that I am going to get flamed for this but I don't dilute juice for DS. I diluted the first 2 bottles and he would not drink but as soon as I stopped diluting it he started to drink it. He loves it but probably only drinks about 3 - 4ozs. a day.

I started out with just 2 oz. of water in the sippy and would let her play with it throughout the day. I figured water wasn't that big a deal if it got on my couch or the carpet in the den. Then once she kinda got the hang of it, I added juice to the water. Then I started giving milk in them too.

Re: Question about giving juice...
So just give it to them and let them play with it? How will they get the hang of it if they don't know they are supposed to drink from it?

I don't know if it's the "right" way to do it, but at that age everything ends up in their mouth anyway, so I figured she'd get the hang of it in her own time, and she did. I really need to get Andy started on them soon.

that's exactly what i was going to say. my dc is 5 months and she puts everything in her month. i started to "teach" her how to use a cup with about 1oz of water, she loves it.

Re: Question about giving juice...
I don't give DD juice, but I do give sippy and have been for awhile.
DD didn't like the reg sippy's she couldn't get the hang of lifting it up and s u cking on it, since it's different than a bottle.
I got her the Nuby sippy's with the straws, SHe LOVES THOSE!
She can drink 4 ozs from those no problem.
I would try water in it first, then go to watered down juice.

Re: Question about giving juice...
I usually give him 25% juice and 75% water. I have tried the regular sippy cup and he didn't care for it. So, I bought the nuby with the straw and he loves it. He can drink a cup full once a day. I give him half with lunch and half with an afternoon snack.
