Question about Jury Selection Interview
This is the second time ever I have been on call for jury duty. The last time they settled and we were all dismissed. I have to call today for Monday. I am going to be called since I am number 100.
I am really nervous about the interviewing process. What kinds of questions do they ask? I am getting really bad anxiety about it and am scared I will be asked questions I am not comfortable answering in front of others . . . .

Re: Question about Jury Selection Interview
the 1 time i got that far in the jury selection process, it was a medical malpractice case. they asked me if i knew the attorneys and if i knew the doctors and if i was familar w/ the hospital and if i minded if the plaintiff was late/missed most of the trial because he lived in florida and couldnt make it to ny in time. i got dismissed after that.

Re: Question about Jury Selection Interview
The main goal is to get dismissed so don't be nervous. If they ask you how you feel about a situation, give an insane answer and they will send you home. Works like a charm every time...who cares if they think you are a bit off.

I was asked if I knew any of the attorney's and one of them had a child in day care in one of my company's other sites and I got dismissed too.

Re: Question about Jury Selection Interview
As someone who questions juries (i'm a lawyer), the questions will be directed to the case. If its a criminal case, most of the questions are going to be- can you be fair? If you don't want to sit, just say no.
If the case is civil, the questions will be specific to the case. Have you ever been in an accident for a personal injury case. If its a business case they'll ask about that.
I know it can be nerve wracking (I've been on both sides), but just think about it as people talking to people. If you are uncomfortable speaking out loud, you can most definitely ask the attorneys ifyou can talk to them in private.
