Question about Level II

I have mine on Monday and was told to drink 24 oz of water 90 min prior and to not empty my bladder till after the test was over. Was everyone told this?

Re: Question about Level II

I was asked to do this for the external examination, then I had to empty my bladder so they could do my internal examination...

Re: Question about Level II

I didnt have to do this, never heard of it actually. I think someone on this board actually said they couldnt get a great pic of the baby because her bladder was too full!

ETA: GOOD LUCK TODAY! Are you going to find out the baby's sex?

Yes we are finding out!Chat Icon

Thats what I remembered....someone saying they couldn't get a good picture of the baby b/c the bladder was full.

So should I drink half the amount(was thinking of doing this) or none at all?

At all our sonograms, Level II included they ask me to empty my bladder right before they start.

Re: Question about Level II

They told me to drink 24 ounces a 1/2 hour before my appt. But when we got there, they were having a christmas party and i was in the waiting room for almost 2 hours and couldnt hold it anymore, so DH went and yelled at them because i was almost peeing my pants, so they said to go to the bathroom and then they gave me 3 more glasses of water and i waited another 1/2 hour, then i get in there and they tell me they cant see the baby my bladder is to full to go empty it. I was so aggrivated with them that i had to hold my urine for so long and it wasn't even necessaryChat Icon

I have my level II on Friday and they told me to drink 32 oz of water 1 hour before my scheduled appointment. I don't know how I am going to do this. I ask some of my friends and yes, they had to do the same thing. Good Luck!!! Will you be finding out what you are having??

Re: Question about Level II

I actually drank alot of water before my appointment and as soon as the tech started the sono she asked me to get up and empty my bladder because she couldnt see things properly, i have had to do this before (drink alot of water) but i thought it was for early stages of pregnancy! GOOD LUCK!!!!! cant wait to hear what u r having!

Re: Question about Level II

I was told to drink 48 oz. !! an hour before and all I can say is that when I did this for my first child, it was hell. I did not enjoy the sono exerience either because I was concentrating on not peeing all over (it became unbearable to hold it). After the tech got pictures of the cervix, I was allowed to empty my bladder and she proceeded, and I was much happier.

This time I just made sure I drank a lot, and didn't pee before going. It was fine. She let me empty my bladder half way through.

Every place is different. My level II was about 45 minutes long and it was external only.

Where are you going? I went to Metropolitan Diagnostics in Garden City.

I wan't told anything about drinking water or anything like that. I just went about my day as usual before I went for the appt. We could see everything perfectly!
