Question about making your own baby food....

I just tried making chicken, it seems a little gritty to me. I poached it and then pureed it with some poaching liquid. It's still a little grainy and pasty, but very loose at the same time.
How do you all make chicken? And do you use breasts or tenderloins?

I would use minced chicken, and then blend it down even more.

eta...is this to feed Ava now or for a later time?

I boil chicken legs with the skin on for about 45 minutes. Then I remove the skin and pull the chicken off the bones into little pieces. It comes out very soft and moist.

It's for Ava now. because of her food allergies, the ped. wants us to start her on chicken and work our way through the meats, then start veggies next month.

I only ask because it seems so early to start her on solids like Chicken!! I know in the states you guys all start much earlier than we are are encouraged to in the UK...we are advised not to wean our wee'uns until they are six months!

Same with my PED, we aren't starting Gianna on solids for another 2 weeks when she turns 6 months and even then I am going off her cues. She still only drinks 25-30 ounces a day.

Well, our ped. is old school, I guess. She handles solids quite well, actually.
