Question about not getting AF
So my friend has been off BCP since the end of June. I know it can take a few cycles for your body to bounce back but she was having some bad mood swings so they sent her for blood work. Apparently her FSH was high (Follicle Stimulating Hormone). They (the lab) told her that could be a sign of a post menopausal state.
She still has to see the doc again.
Anyone ever hear of this? Have experience with this? Can it be corrected with medication? My friend is now so scared she wont be able to get pg.
You ladies are the best, so thanks in advance!

Re: Question about not getting AF
I had a very high FSH reading when I had initial bloodwork done after not getting my period for almost 3 months. It's hard to really determine the true hormone levels and what they mean mid cycle. The best time to have your hormone levels checked is on CD3.
ETA: When I did finally have CD3 bloodwork done, my FSH levels were within normal range.

Re: Question about not getting AF
A friend of a friend had this as well. They told her it would be very difficult for her to conceive. 2 months later she was PG and had a beautiful baby boy.

Re: Question about not getting AF
I agree with MrsRbk, she needs to get her levels tested on CD3.
High FSH cannot be treated with medications, but there are herbal and other homeopathic remedies that have helped some women to lower their level.
How old is your friend, if you don't mind me asking?

Re: Question about not getting AF
The lab should have kept their mouths shut. This is why techs aren't supposed to say anything. As MrsRbk said - unless it's CD2 or 3, FSH results mean just about nothing.
If she hasn't had a period, her Dr. should give her Provera and she should go in for testing on her CD3.
