Question about O & BD.

So hypethetically speaking.. Let say someones ovulation date is.... Oct. 31st. Is that the day you should be BD'ing or is that the "start" of ovulation and you should BD there after.

How long does ovulation take?

I'm a little confused.

I was supposed to ovulate sometime between 10/31 & 11/3. We BD'd on 11/4. I'm just trying to calculate the chances. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks.

Re: Question about O & BD.

Since it takes some time for the little swimmers to make their way up, I believe they say you should BD a couple of days before O and a couple after O just in case. So if you O'd on 11/3 and BD on 11/4 - it is possible! Good Luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Question about O & BD.

You should BD before you O because sperm can live a lot longer than the egg does once it is released. The month we got pg, I Bd the 2 days before O and the day after.

If you O'd on 11/3 you might still have a chance because you BD on 11/4.

Re: Question about O & BD.

you are suppose to BD up to 2 days before O & then the day of. So if you were scheduled to O between 10/31 & 11/3, I would have started BDing on 10/29 & continued either everyday or every other until 11/4. Are you using OPK's to make sure you did indeed O?

Re: Question about O & BD.

the way I get it is you should BD before and on the O day...the little spirmy's can live up to three days... and with the ovulation process you become more lubricated that's what helps the little guys swim upstream... It's still possible! Where are you getting your O date from?

Like mymonthlycycles? Because that just calculates your ovulation date based on certain averages that might not be true for you. You might have a luteal phase that is longer/shorter than 14 days, so you may still have a chance!

Also, on mymonthlycycles for me, it predicted O to be on CD20, and according to the OPKs it was on CD 17 or CD 18.

Re: Question about O & BD.

Sperm can live for approximately 48 - 72 hours. The egg only lasts for about 12 hours. So you should BD before or during your O. Because you can be wrong about when you O, I'd start BDing every other day for the week before and continue until the week after. I got pregnant in September and never got a positive O!
