Question about paying off a credit card
I called last week to find out the pay off amount of my Chase credit card. I was told that being I was paying off the credit card in full they would "waive" the finance charges for the month. So, I posted the payment with them and they automatically withdrew it out of my account and I had a $0 balance. Fast forward to today and I get a bill for the interest that was supposably "waived". I called Chase and spoke to 3 different people who all gave me the run around. They said that it is not their policy to waive interest payments at payoff in fact, they dont even include interest charges for the billing period in their quoted pay off amounts So I asked the "dumb" question, "why?" If a customer calls and says I want to pay off my credit card and have a $0 balance, wouldnt they calculate the interest charges for the pay period up to that point and include it in the payment? I guess that was too difficult for them to understand. So I wound up arguing with them and they are supposed to go back and check the taped recording of my conversation with customer service where I was told the interest charges would be waived (does anyone think that is REALLY going to happen??? ) and I have to call them back on Monday to find out their ruling. I am so friggin' aggravated.
How the hell do you pay off a credit card completely? I thought it was pretty simple by calling the credit card company and getting the final pay off amount, apparently not. B/c now even if I do have to pay the interest which was supposed to be waived, I am going to get a bill next month for the interest accrued on the interest that wasn't payed Do I have to overpay them and WAIT for a check for the balance over paid?

Re: Question about paying off a credit card
I know, I thought it was illogical when I first discovered that phenomenon too....
fear not... what ever the trivial balance will remain on your statement next month... if you pay it in full next month, it's all gone... zero balance. This is becuase if you pay your statment balance in full, the subsequent balance the following month will not accrue interest.... so you're just paying last month's interest, and that's it.
does that make sense

Yes, that makes sense thank you!
And, if they listen to the tape and decide not to waive the fees as I was told, I will close my acct. with them! I should anyway. I hate Chase.
