Question about portion sizes (7 Month Old)
DS is exclusively breastfeeding with the exception of his solid foods. He started rice cereal at 4 months old just to experiment a little. We started with 2-3 tsp. dry mixed with some BM and gradually increased the portion to 2 tbs. dry mixed with BM one time a day usually in the evening. Then when he turned 6 months we started experimenting with fruits/veggies. We also started oatmeal. My question is, when referring to a chart or others' suggestions and they say the child is eating X amount of cereal, is it dry or mixed? I'm asking because I've been referring to it as dry and 2 tbs. dry cereal makes almost double the amount when it's mixed. Add in 2 tbs. of a fruit or veggie and the portion size just seems to be too much. DS usually can't finish the last few bites of cereal. I don't know if it's because I'm trying to give him solids too close to when he last nursed (usually 1-2 hours after) or if I'm just making the portions too big If I'm making the portions the correct size, then how long do you wait after nursing? He loves the food. It's just the last few bites (1 1/2 tbs. wet/mixed cereal is left).

Re: Question about portion sizes (7 Month Old)
This is what I followed. Eat as much as they want, 1 hour after nursing/bottle.

Re: Question about portion sizes (7 Month Old)
DD, 7.5 months, gets the following:
Breakfast - 2tbsp dry oatmeal cereal mixed with BM and 2 ounces of fruit
Lunch - 2 ounces of veggie
Dinner - 2 tbsp dry rice cereal mixed with BM and 2 ounces of fruit
Sometimes she eats everything, sometimes she eats about half.
