Question about proper lunch for a 4 1/2 year old
I am a stepmom and I wanted to run this by other parents because none of my friends are moms and the few that are have infants.
SS's biological mom sends him to school with lunch everyday and he tells us it generally rotates among the following:
1) one hardboiled egg on 1 slice of bread 2) cottage cheese sandwich (with 1 slice of bread) 3) yogurt sandwich (with 1 slice of bread) 4) cheese sandwich (with 1 slice of bread and 1 slice of american cheese from those square packages)
She will also pack a small bag of baby carrots, a small/mini apple, or something similar.
Is this what other pre-K kids eat? I really don't think so and it doesn't sound like enough food (never mind that it sounds pretty gross to me - cottage cheese or yogurt sandwich?). We had to send him to school one day so she packed a lunch for us the night before and this is indeed the type of stuff he is getting, he is not making anything up.
If this doesn't sound right to you and you have a kid in pre-K or remember what you fed your kid in pre-K, what sort of stuff do you pack?
edited for spelling

That actually sounds about right to me. I often pack a little package of cottage cheese/hummus/yogurt/egg salad, some crackers, a little container of veggies, either tomatoes, cucumbers or carrots, and a piece of fruit, or applesauce. Either something like that, or just leftovers from dinner the night before.
But my daughter's school also provides snacks so I don't have to pack much more than that.
