question about roman shades

the windows in our living room are long (vertically) we measured inside the cutout of where the windows sit. the width of each window is 34.5 in and the length is 74 in.

we love these roman shades from PB, but there are no matching sizes.
do we get the 32 X 64? or 36 X 64?

do we have to get our shades customized then?

thanks!

added a pic of the shades---

Hey Daphne - I was thinking about this the other day. I think you would have to get them customized. Have you looked online at Smith and Noble? They may have a similar fabric.

Re: question about roman shades

If you love them, I think that you can get away with the 32" ones b/c it will only leave 1.25" on either side of the window which isn't that big of a gap.

But you wouldn't be able to close them all the way b/c they are too short. So unless you were planning on leaving them half open all of the time you would have to get longer ones.

I've also seen people get the larger width and have an outside mount...it totally depends on what look you want. Chat Icon We're having the SAME issues with PB shades here too.

yeah--- i thought most shades would be a standard size--- i guess my windows aren't standard...

customizing would be $$$$, so i might try the 32 X 64 and just return them if they don't work out. i'll try and post pics

Another alternative is to get the 36'' and mount them just on the outside of the window frame, not inside. I have heard that this looks good as well. We have a similar problem with our dining room window which is 35'' wide - not 32'' or 36'' - off by an inch! I was considering getting the ones that are 36'' and seeing how an outside mount would work...might be worth a try. We have explored the option of custom as well and it is soooooo $$$$$$
