Question about Single Cup Coffee Makers
We were thinking of getting one today but DH seems to think you keep it plugged in so the water is hot all the time. I told him no, you just turn it on or program it when you want to make the water hot.
Can anyone explain better how these work?
Does anyone have one with the reusable filter where you can use your own coffee?
Thanks!

Re: Question about Single Cup Coffee Makers
I don't think you need to keep it on all the time..I would think if you program it, you need to keep it plugged in so it will work...when we use it, however, the water heats pretty quickly..I don't have one of those filters, but I hear they are more trouble than they are worth...get one, though..they are great...

Re: Question about Single Cup Coffee Makers
You don't keep it on all of the time - for the Keurig at least.
The water heats up very quickly though! I would say in less than 3 minutes it's ready to brew.
They are very simple to use. Simply turn the machine on, check the water level, and press the button for whatever size cup you'd like and that's all!
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the coffees I've tried from them, although the machine itself is simple to use.

Yep, you don't have to keep it on. Turn it on and the water is hot in 2mins, if that. We also use it w/o a pod if we need hot water for a tea bag.
Our Keurig came with a small plastic container and a tiny filter that you can fill with your own coffee grinds. Then you just clean it out when your done (you can re-use it)

Re: Question about Single Cup Coffee Makers
We had the same problem and then we figured out that we can set the water temperature so the coffee is hot. You get to it by pressing the menu button. We also have the reusable filter and it works great.

Thanks for all the information! I think we're going to make the purchase.
