Question about taking your baby for walks..
When does everyone take out their babies for walks. I hate staying inside but I feel like it i too hot. I have to put him in the carrier because the streets around our house have hardly any trees so I use the carrier that way he is shielded from the sun but then I feel like it might stuff in their. When I get home and take him out of the carrier he is all sweaty. I was thinking of gong at 6 buty he goes to bed between 6 & 7 and it is so hard to restrain myself if I go to the malls.

Re: Question about taking your baby for walks..
I havent taken my DD since the weather got hot - really since mid june as she cannot wear sunscreen yet and I feel its just too hot for her...I take her for a quick 10min walk around our house and in the garden before 9.00am and thats about it...trying to avoid the evenings too because of the mozzies....I am soooooooooo looking forward to september when I can get out with her again.
It means no exercise for me too so thats not good.

Re: Question about taking your baby for walks..
Its hot here also, but we go out for walks and I use a sunshade called a Shade-a-babe, the kid still gets sweaty, but at least we get out of the house! I usually go somewhere with a big tree and lots of shade....I usually go out just in the AM or the Afternoon...

Re: Question about taking your baby for walks..
I've been taking my babies out everyday, usually around 9-10 am. I know its hot, but they really love going for walks outside.

Re: Question about taking your baby for walks..
Since Roman doesn't get home from child care until around 6 we go in the evening. On the weekends we generally will go early in the AM or again in the evening.

Re: Question about taking your baby for walks..
I take Alex for a walk at around 7:30pm each night. I tried to do it early in the morning but it's till too hot around that time. Nights are best for me.

Re: Question about taking your baby for walks..
I try super early , like around 7 AM. Anytime after that is too hot. Sometimes, I'll take him around 7:30 PM, but by then I'm exhausted. The weather has been way too hot and humid so I rather not take the chance and so I just keep him in the house.

Re: Question about taking your baby for walks..
I take walks mid-afternoon but Emily is a bit older then Luka so it is OK. We bring a sippy cup of water with ice for her and a water bottle for me, just to make sure we stay hydrated. I also try to dress her cool. Today we walked in nothing but her bathing suit!

Re: Question about taking your baby for walks..
I would love to go at night because it has been really nice but he is tired by 6:45 so he is usually asleep by 7:30. I guess we will stick to the malls or try in the morning.

Re: Question about taking your baby for walks..
MAdeline has been going for walks with sunscreen ( pedi said OK as long as she didn't get a rash) since she was 2 months old. On the really hot days, I wouldn't take her out, but otherwise, we have kept to a pretty regular walking schedule.. Some days we do an 8:30 am walk, some days a 6:30 walk and some days both. I try to walk away from the sun ( I have a nice tan on my back!) or on shady streets. I also cover her feet with a cloth diaper( they are not too warm, I just rest it over the stroller so its not really touching her feet, just covering them)She does so much better when we get out at least once a day.

Re: Question about taking your baby for walks..
I live in the city, so I just walk her on the street and I bought a visor so she gets protected from the sun.
