Question about tanning in the Summer while pregnant
It just hit me today..how will I "turn over" and do my back side??? Am I going to be 1/2 tan??

Lay on your stomach on the beach and dig a hole in the sand for the belly!

Hey...that sounds like a good idea..for the Beach..but what about if you go to a pool? Should I bring a shovel and dig a hole??

I can just picture this now - down on all fours digging a hole in the sand to place your stomach in... Either that or you will have to spend a lot of time floating around on your stomach on a float to cook your back

I tell eveyone I am going for the kid tann this year I will NOT lay out because of that reason instead I will try and play out side with my daughter (8 yrs old) when kids run around and play all day they get the best even tan :)

Be very careful tanning while pregnant....your skin may react differntly to the sun, and you may get uneven color.
And if you become overheated, it could harm the baby.

Yep - the sun can do funny things to you when you are pregnant.
It can cause the "mask of pregnancy" and can overheat your little one.

I just saw one of my professors yesterday- she's due on June 10. She and her hubby went to the beach a few weeks ago- HOLY melasma batman!! It looks awful. Thankfully she brought it up before I even walked up to her....
Moral of the story- NO tanning while pregnant......mask of pregnancy

I was @ my dr's office yesterday and they told me to make sure to not overheat the abdomen area when going into the sun.
So yes, we have to be very careful.
I plan on bringing a big old umbrella, a hat, spray bottle, lots of water and tons of sunscreen.
I am definitely not going to tan like a champ like I usually do- not this summer

Besides the possibility of getting melasma, I don't think the baby will like getting "cooked"!! no tanning for me this summer.

I always wear sunscreen and don't get ridiculous with tanning.

I dont plan on avoiding the sun or outdoors. I love the summer, beach, and pool. I plan on wearing extra sunblock and drinking lots of water, and most importantly listening to my body. When its to hot, ill stay in or make sure im in the pool, but i do plan on catching a tan and spending nice days outside throughout the summer.
