Re: question about the STAR rebate

No. You won't be eligible until 2009. I think you apply next year for the following year.

thats not entireley true - in Brookhaven (and most of suffolk i believe) the star deadline was March 1st. IF you got your star paperwork in before march 1st (so you would have had to close before then) you would be eligble.

I closed the last week in december 06 and we filed for star before march 1st and will be getting a check.

Re: question about the STAR rebate

Yes, March 1st is the deadline...so you'd have to close prior to that in order to be eligible. Sorry I didn't fill that bit in (I closed in June).

Not necessarily. If the previous owners submitted their STAR application before March 1, they'd have the STAR rebate this year, and would have to apply on their own in 2008 for the rebate to be in their name.

Re: question about the STAR rebate

OK. I am pretty sure our previous owners did not apply. They were only in the house 6 months and it was her second residence. Next year we are going to have to pay non-star taxes, what a PITA!

We're in the same boat, Lauren for this year since it was a 2nd home for the guy who flipped the house and sold it to us. At least we can get the check from STAR like Meaghan said.
