question about toddler chewable vitamins (suffolk county)
the vitamins with flouride in them (I think suffolk county uses these, right?since we dont have flouride in our water)
was anyone else told about the recall no the poly-vi-flor chewables (This was a couple of weeks ago) I went to pick up my prescription and was told we can take OTC Flinstones along with the small flouride pill, instead of the usual multivitamin.
I was surprised the ped didnt tell us.
they said it was nothing that can harm the children, just that the vitamins were breaking apart too easily - ?

My kids take the OTC Flintstones and the little purple pill for a long time now. I never knew a reason other than that is what the ped said to do.

We were just told the exact same thing. I wanted to get a refill and CVS told me they were on back order and to contact the doctor. I called the doctor and they said there is a problem with the manufacturer and there is no harm to the vitamin for the kids. They had me get Flintstones and a small flouride vitamin.

I will never give Andrew fluoride. I have heard bad things about fluoride.
I only give Andrew the my first Flintstones.
Cavities can be prevented by not using fluoride. And all has to do with the chemical make up in your saliva.
Here is how:
Choose a toothpaste that contains the following ingredients: casein, a natural protein found in milk that helps balance good and bad bacteria in the mouth; natural mint extract, which contains 25 percent peppermint oil and inhibits the growth of bacteria; Xylitol, a natural sweetener that's been found to actively aid in repairing minor cavities.
Adjust your diet. Consume plenty of calcium-rich foods such as low-fat dairy, and fruits and vegetables containing vitamins A and C. Limit sticky foods that can get stuck between your teeth, and all refined sugars. Drink more water and cut back on fruit juices and especially sodas, which can weaken your tooth enamel.

My stupid doctor just wrote me a prescription for this, obviously not knowing about the recall. We were informed by our pharmacist.

Yes they told us the same thing and gave us a seperate fluoride supplement and told us to pick up Flinstones. My pediatrician never mentioned it to us I wasn't comfortable giving my DD fluoride everyday anyway so to me it worked for the best.

My ped said give them fluoride every other day and Flintstones Complete every day. My kids do not drink tap water so they get none at all.
