Question about Trader Joe's
I see that so many people go there but what type of place is it exactly. I need to do a big food shopping so could I do it there? Also is it expensive and are their any products that they only sell that anyone really likes?

Re: Question about Trader Joe's
They have the BEST frozen vegetables. I don't think you could do full heavy shopping, but its GREAT for veggies, cheeses, snacks, etc.

Re: Question about Trader Joe's
you won't find aluminum foil or paper plates there - or lots of produce
you'll see terrific prices on healthy & gourmet foods - great frozen stuff, cereals, prepared foods, cheese, yummy coffees and interesting things you won't see at the run-of-the-mill supermarket.
if you have to do a big shopping for stuff like papergoods & meat, this is not the place - but the trader joe's has awesome cookies, chocolate, frozen meals that are delicious...

Re: Question about Trader Joe's
It's a supermarket. I call it the poor man's Whole Foods. They have a lot of organic stuff and their own brands of sauce, bread, snacks, etc.

ITA. I find stuff like bananas and apples to be very pricey there (like bananas price is per banana--something like 35 cents, so much more than per pound at Stop and Shop), but great prepared food and frozen food.

I also like their meats because most are organic. Actually a lot of their stuff is organic.

Re: Question about Trader Joe's
I shop there about once a month and stock up on the things I buy there. I rarely buy produce there - it's a little pricey and they don't have the best selection.
I buy almost all of my cereal and oatmeal there. The other things I buy most often are coffee, turkey hotdogs, frozen veggies, frozen burritos for lunches, frozen fish, salsa, salad dressing, canned beans and snacks. Their prices are very good on certain items, but it doesn't have the same selection as a regular grocery store.

Re: Question about Trader Joe's
I love thier canned fruit. Its all in juice, not syrup. They also have cool things- like in addition to applesauce, they have pearsauce and peachsauce.

Re: Question about Trader Joe's
Also they have great little appetizers for get togethers. My Aunt recently brought over their Cheesecake Bites. Unreal!
Their cereal prices (like on Kashi products) are definitely lower than you would find in a grocery store. A lot of their prices are lower than at a traditional grocery story. Just don't plan on getting everything you need.
Try the Frozen Shrimp Tempura also!
