I'm going to the Madonna concert tomorrow night, the show starts at 8, at madison square garden....is there any chance that I'll be able to catch the 11:28 train to sayville?

Just watch the clock. It depends on how long she goes on for.

Here's something I learned way back when about concerts at MSG. If set breakdown begins after Midnight, the New York union crew gets triple overtime (and this comes out of the artist's take home). Thusly, most MSG concerts won't go past 11:20--just in case to allow for encores and general lollygagging.

The only exception to this was The Who, and I later read an article where Pete Townshend was questioned about this. He said, "Yeah, I know about that overtime thing. But, screw it, I got the money."

You def. should.
Some advice though-When I went to go to Billy Joel-We Left 5 mins early that way you don't have to deal with the crowds and you can walk right out.
