Question about video monitors

SO I never had a video monitor. Do you think it makes sense to get one once I transition miki to a bed or not bother? I just wonder if it makes sense so that I can keep an eye on what she is doing in there

TIA

Re: Question about video monitors

IMO, I think they're more useful for a baby. My kids are 14 months apart and when #2 came along, I moved the video monitor from the older one's room to the younger one's room. They also sell a dual video monitor so you can see both of them side by side but it had too much interference with static in our house.

Re: Question about video monitors

Right now we have DD's old video one in her room - when they are both asleep upstairs and we are downstairs, I put her sound one on in the kitchen and his video one on in the living room.

Then when we go up to bed (DS is still in our room) we put DD's video one on in our room and turn DS's off. Sounds complicated lol, but it's not.

For DS we have the handheld summer monitor which you can add another monitor onto so I plan to order that and then get rid of DD's old one and just switch channels when we go to bed.

I do like to see DD in the video monitor. Sometimes she stays laying down, other times she gets up and trashes her room.Chat Icon I just like to be able to see really when if she wakes up at night crying or sitting up, to make sure she's okay before going in and really waking her.

Re: Question about video monitors

Don't ask me - I'm obsessed with mine and will be using it until Jack is 18 Chat Icon

I have to say though, I think that if you've gotten this far without it - you really won't need it.

Re: Question about video monitors

We just moved it into DD's "big girl" room now that she's in a bed. It's actually too far away from her bed for us to really see her inside the bed, but we can see if she climbs out of the bed. We had to remove EVERYTHING from the room besides the furniture (toys, books, tissue box, etc.) because DD was climbing out of bed and getting into everything. I don't want to have to go in there at all (negative reinforcement, or so my sleep book says) when she gets out of bed and starts getting into her things. We also used a reward system which is working great for keeping her in her bed at night. I'm rambling... I don't think you need it at this point. But, if you're planning on having another baby, then get it.
