Question about where to get flu shot for kids other then pediatrician office?
Just called the doctor for my boys to get flu shot and she said I can't come in till they have an open clinic on the 28th. Said doctor is booked till then. Which I don't understand. There is about 8 doctors in the practice. Can't I just go to anyone. Then she tells me my appt for the 28th is at 730 at night. I have a 22 month old that goes to bed then. Crazy!!
Anywhere else I could at least bring my older son?
I could go tomorrow and get a flu shot anywhere but can't get for the kids. My sons have been sick on and off for last month and are finally healthy. Wanted to get before they get sick again.

First off that's crazy. The dr doesn't even give the shots, the nurses do. I spread out dd's vaccines and when I go for the remaining shots from the last visit I pretty much can come in and be seen by a nurse.
A cvs minute clinic will vaccinate children. Not just any cvs though so make sure it's the minute clinic.

The doctor at our practice always gives the vaccines. Never the nurse. But it still makes no sense. When you go in for a sick or well visit they always ask if you want flu shot. So if they can give it then, why can't I just go in at walk in hours? I never get it at their sick visits. Don't like to give it when their immunity is low.

Bring them in during the sick walk in hours. All of a sudden they will feel better and then ask for the shot. Haha. Jk. Kinda.
Yeah our dr doesn't give them. This way the kids aren't scared of them when they examine them. They make the nurses the bad guys.

I would call again and explain that you are pregnant and are even more worried than usual about the possiblity of them getting the flu. Hopefully you can speak with someone else.

My MIL just yelled at me and told me to call back immediately and tell them you want to get him in ASAP. That I'm pregnant and waiting till Jan 28th is just crazy. She is so much better at that stuff. I'm such a wimp. I'm usually pretty easy going about flu shot. But have been wanting to get him one for the past month or two since he is in school and I'm pregnant. He keeps getting sick every time I'm going to take him.
I just called back hoping to get someone else and it was same girl.

Just so you know, NY does not allow pharmacists to vaccinate anybody under 18. Over 18, they can...that is why all the pharmacies offer it now. So if you're going to go to a place like the CVS Minute Clinic, call first to be sure they will have somebody there to vaccinate children.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering that actually.
I called back and got a different receptionist who just put me with a different doctor and got me in this week. So simple. Who knows who I talked to the first time.

Glad you got an appointment. I had an issue with the person who answered the phone at my peds office in regards to the flu shot as well. I had a well visit for DS 2 and asked if I could bring DS 1 for his flu shot and they told me they only gave them during clinics. I had her speak with the doctor and he said no problem. They can bill for two visits in the time it takes for one.
