Question abtou highlights- Is it possible . . .

to get a blonde look w/o a chunky/stiped look on your first time?

I'm hoping to get highlights tomorrow, but am afraid it won't be blonde enough, it will look chunky and/or stiriped!

Last time I had highlights I LOVED it was around the time I was married (4yrs ago) and i went Religiously every 6 weeks and maintained the look I desired.

I did get highlights about 2 yrs ago (I'd let it all grow out when I was PG w/ DS) but was not happy.

TIA!

I've been getting blond highlights for a long time and doesn't look chuncky at all. They can also put in a toner after to even it out

You have to ask for THIN highlights ALL over your head. Make sure you say NOT chunky... and they will put a toner in afterwards to get it the right shade that you are looking for.

I dyed my hair BLACK for years and when I wanted to lighten up, highlighting was the only way I was able to acheive the honey/caramel color (that's the toner I had asked for them to use; obviously how light you go is up to you) that I was striving for and it always came out VERY natural looking..

Is your base very dark?
If so, you're going to look stripy w/ blonde highlights -

you either need to work them in gradually until they get heavier and heavier, or lighted up your base a little bit before highlighting -

I dont think my base is very dark.

This is a pic from my wedding- the look I'd love the have tomorrow, but know it will take time.

This pic is HORRIBLE- but you get an idea of my current hair color- this pic isn't the greatest, I think it looks a little lighter in person.

This one was about 2 weeks ago- again not a great pic, but you can kinds see more the true color of my hair.

Hmmmm, your base isn't DARK, but it's totally different from the golden blonde color in your Wedding pic (love your hair there too BTW)

You CAN get there tomorrow if you lighten up your base, otherwise, you'll just have to gradually make the highlights heavier w/ each 'touch up'

Sadly, that will be "impossible" to do tomorrow. I am 27 weeks PG, and my OB ok'd hilights, not color. Guess I'll do what I can for now.

THANKS!!!

Re: Question abtou highlights- Is it possible . . .

like I said in my earlier post, I have had black hair and was able to get it to that color.. you have to ask for thin highlights over your entire head.

once they apply the toner, it'll be fine.

An experienced colorist will know what she is doing.

if you need a recommendation, let me know.

Ask your colorist if they can "break the base" for you. When I was pregnant this is what I did instead of dying my base color. It only stays on your hair for 5 minutes instead of the 20 -20 minutes dye will usually be on your hair. This way I was able to highlight and keep a light base color throughout the second and third trimester. Also like a PP suggested, ask for thin highlights all over your head.
