Question at the bottom regarding progesterone
This is my first cycle with the RE. I did 100mgs of Clomid CD3-7 and am currently on CD20. Went this morning for sono and blood work. Sono showed 10 follies on the left ovary, all under 10mm. Right ovary had 4 under 10 and one at 14mm. The doctor was even surprised that it's been 13 days since my last pill and I'm still not quite there yet. So, it's back on Monday morning for more bloodwork and another sono.
At this rate my first IUI will likely be Tuesday (my wedding anniversary) followed by the 2nd on Wednesday...there go my anniversary evening plans! But that's okay, this is definately worth it!
I wonder if the doctor will let us light a few candles to make it somewhat romantic

How romantic... you, your husband, a doctor and a catheter...
In all seriousness - good luck!
PS - How did you decide to do two IUI's in the same cycle.

Yes, this is how I pictured my anniversary! but if this cycle works, it's a nice story
My doctor does two IUI's. Based on the sono and bloodwork, they will administer the trigger shot. Do an IUI that day, and then the following day.

Re: Man are my ovaries LAZY
Thanks ladies... I'm very cautiously excited about this cycle. As soon as the Dr. saw my only mature follie this morning and said it was go time, I got all teary eyed...(I'm such a sap). So, I got my trigger (ouchie, that stung!) and we did our first IUI this morning. Tomorrow morning we go in for our 2nd. I'm excited that this is happening on our wedding anniversary (I'm strange, I know!) But gosh darn, this is going to be a loooooooong 2 weeks. I have to go back on the 27th for my pregnancy test.

We're going to be in the 2WW together! to us both!!! I know how you mean about cautiously optomistic. I am the same way. But its exciting nonetheless to have a mature follie and ovulate!

Re: Friday Update: Man are my ovaries LAZY
So, my progesterone levels are low...3.4, and the nurse said they like to see 7 or 8. So I was told to come back this afternoon for another HCG injection which will help boost the progesterone. I just thought they would give me progesteron suppostitories or something, is that something I should ask the nurse when I go in later?

Re: Question at the bottom regarding progesterone
I have never done IUI so I am not an expert at all but I am confused-during a natural cycle which is what ART is trying to imitate your progesterone does not rise until about 7 dpo...why would it be high at this point. I would also ask for progesterone supplements. Can't hurt and may help. Good luck!

Thanks.. yes this is very confusing to me too. At our initial visit when the nurse went over an IUI/trigger cycle. The chart she gave us showed that 5 days from the first IUI I was to come in for bloodwork to check my progesterone. When she called earlier, I asked if I needed to come back to have my progesterone rechecked and she said no, I don't have to come back until 11/27 when I'd be getting my pregnancy blood test.

I think they may have you mixed up with someone else...it happens. I would call back and say , what about my progesterone test at 5 dpo as my paperwork says. Progesterone is so very important and as far as I know hcg alone will not do it.

I totally agree with this. You have to be extremely proactive with RE's today...they have a lot of patients and it's important to be sure you get the proper care.

Re: Question at the bottom regarding progesterone
Thanks ladies - DH and I just got back from talking to the nurse. She explained that the hcg should also help produce the hormone that keeps the corpus luteum producing progesterone, which is why she wanted to give me a half dose more today. The chart I was given does not say to come back at 5dpo for bloodwork, it says to come back 5 days from the first IUI which was on Monday.
I'm probably not explaining it correctly, but I understood what she was talking about in the office and was comfortable with it.

Not to beat a dead horse but you should still have progesterone tested--it is done by my Dr and I don't even do IUI's. Imagine being successful and then having the worry of low progesterone. It is worth it to just say-I've been reading and I would like to have my progesterone tested at 7 dpiui. I would feel more comfortable. Good luck
