Question for a friend
Anyone drive from Nassau county to Westchester?
My friends dh works in Westchester and they are thinking of buying a house in Floral Park (she works on LI) and they are wondering what the traffic is like during normal rush hour hours (7-8 am)
He would be taking the cross island and has to go to Mt Vernon.

my DH works in Westchester a couple days a week and it usually take him around 1hr - 1hr15min and works a little further north than Mt. Vernon too
Thats just with normal traffic, no accidents or anything which of course would make it a little longer

Cross Island North usually moves and the whitestone / throggs neck bridge are pretty clear...there might be a little traffic on the Hutchinson pkwy (if that's what he is taking)...he should give him self 1 hr 15 mins...just to be on the safe side

Where in Westchester? He hasn't done it in years but DH used to do Lynbrook to Ossining -- it would take him anywhere from 50 - 90 mins.

My sister commuted from Levittown to Dobbs Ferry and it took her 50-70 minutes depending on traffic. Going to work, she made better time than coming home.
